I still remember the feeling of starting my own firm. As soon as I completed my doctorate, I sent the paperwork in for licensing. For ten years, I had been speaking, training, and traveling as a consultant all while working in a larger urban school district. It was a perfect balance of anxiousness and excitement, mixed with a tiny bit of nausea. Before I began my doctoral work, I sat down with one of my mentors and asked him to help me reconcile my desire to help others, speak, and lead, with my drive to pursue a title. Did I want to be a doctor to say, “I’m a doctor of….” or was there a more noble motive and outcome? By the end of the conversation, he had guided me to the answers already within myself and I started a five-year journey of higher education.
Much like what he did for me, I would begin to do for others.
I am Dr. Teri Cox, an executive coach, trainer, and leadership developer. My goal is to empower you and your team with the skills to speak confidently, develop a common vision and gain more clarity.
