It’s funny how priorities change. The original idea that pushed me to want to start a business was the fact that I hated waking up before the sun to drive to work. I just wanted to sleep! I dreamed of waking up without an alarm clock, not answering to anyone, and working on my terms.
Right around that time, I learned about the Credit Repair Industry. It was a needed service for consumers, but it had such a bad reputation. The companies that were offering to help with bad credit at the time were ripping clients off, not doing the work, and taking advantage of people who were already in a bad place and just needed help. This didn’t sit well with me at all. I knew the industry could be changed, I knew people could be helped, and honestly… that it could all just be done better!
It turned out that my passion for helping people and making things better is much higher than my passion for more sleep. My partner and I brainstormed, researched, studied, and learned everything we could, and thus The Credit People was born. From that moment on, the dream of well-rested and carefree days of work quickly turned into days filled with hard work, barely any sleep, and learning how to self-motivate. It also required me to dig deep from a place of pure will (or maybe stubbornness).
Now here we are 18 years later, and I believe we have created the company we always knew it could be. We feel very confident that we turned the intimidating and boring service of credit scores and credit reporting laws into one that is simple, friendly, safe, and incredibly effective for our clients. We have helped so many people along the way that it is well worth every hour of sleep that I’ve lost, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
